“Specified Skilled Worker” (SSW) is a residence status granted to foreign nationals who are permitted to work in Japan.This new system was introduced by the Japanese government in April 2019 to welcome foreign workers with specific expertise.
Candidates must possess certain skills, knowledge, and Japanese language proficiency, proven through examinations or prior work experience.The system aims to secure job-ready talent across 16 designated industries currently facing severe labor shortages in Japan.
